CITB Health and Safety

The CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) focus on providing support to the construction industry, through accredited CITB health and safety training, campaigning and education. As a sector skill council, CITB is at the forefront of shaping health and safety training for the construction industry. RISK, as a health and safety training provider, delivers accredited CITB health and safety training.
Most contractors and clients now demand proof of competence, before allowing workers onto their sites, which is provided by a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card. CITB are the authorising body for the CSCS card. A CSCS card lists the CITB health and safety training qualifications attained.
Holding a valid CSCS card verifies that individuals have at least a minimum level health and safety awareness, as all cardholders have to pass the appropriate CITB-Construction Skills Site Safety Awareness Test before a card can be issued. Further qualifications from training in CITB health and safety will be added to the card as each health and safety training qualification is achieved.
For construction supervisors, site managers, contractors and senior management, CITB health and safety training comprises specialist health and safety courses: - Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS training), the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS training). These are construction industry recognised qualifications for those working in a supervisory or management position with responsibility for adhering to CITB health and safety in construction requirements, or are working as part of the construction industry supply-chain and need an awareness of CITB health and safety.
