Audience
Managers, supervisors, employee representatives and those embarking on a role with fire safety responsibilities.
Objectives
At the end of the course delegates will be able to attend the certificate examination. The course aims to equip holders to contribute to the conduct and review of fire risk assessments, fire preventive and protective measures within most workplaces.
Course Structure
The course consists of 2 taught units NGC1: The Management of Health and Safety and FC1: Fire Safety and Risk Management. The first unit of the Fire Risk Management Certificate is drawn from the management of health and safety aspects of the NEBOSH National General Certificate and is examined by the management paper from the National General Certificate.
Exemptions*
Those who have achieved the: NGC1, National General Certificate Paper A1, NEBOSH National Diploma Unit A, NEBOSH Diploma Part 1 or NEBOSH Diploma Part 2 within the last 5 years will only have to take and pass the second Unit of the Fire Risk Management Certificate, and the Fire Practical Assessment to achieve the new qualification.
Assessment of course
Course members’ complete two written examination papers each of 2 hours duration and a practical test (FC2) involving a safety inspection of a workplace (½ hour duration) and the preparation of a report following the inspection (1½ hours duration). Successful candidates will be awarded the NEBOSH Fire and Risk Management Certificate. *Unless Exemptions Apply, see above.
Course length
The course consists of 10 lecture days, 1 revision day, 1 day of written examinations and the practical test. This course can be delivered in company.
