CITB SMSTS 2 Day Refresher Courses
(Site Management Safety Training Scheme)

The SMSTS Refresher course enables individuals who have already successfully completed their Site Management Safety Training Scheme certification to renew their certificate.

It is a mandatory requirement to renew this SMSTS certificate every 5 years, either through a two-day SMSTS CITB Refresher Course or by attending another five-day Site Managers Safety Training Scheme.

Who is the SMSTS Refresher Course for?

• Existing Site Management Safety Training Scheme certificate holders

Learning Outcomes: SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) Refresher

Developing existing skills and knowledge, participants will:-

• Understand and know how to implement new guidance and best practice.
• Be aware of and understand the current focus of HSE's attention.

What does the SMSTS Refresher course cover?

• Risk assessment and method statements
• CDM Regulations 2007
• Construction Health, Safety and Welfare (CDM part 2)
• Reporting of Accidents, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences
• Overview and changes to the current legislation affecting construction to include:

1. Work at Height Regulations 2005
2. Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002
3. Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005
4. Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005
5. Fire on construction sites including Fire Safety Order 2005
6. Construction waste and Site Waste Management Plans

Duration

2 Days - Trainer Led Learning

It is mandatory that delegates attend both days, in sequential order.

Certification/Examinations

• Multiple-choice assessment paper and tutor evaluation.
• Successful participants will be awarded a CITB SMSTS certificate.
