CITB SSSTS Training Courses
(Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme)

To equip first line managers/supervisor’s, or those seeking to become a manager/supervisor with an introductory level of health and safety, demonstrating how it is an essential function of effective supervision.  It will provide a knowledge base and equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to enable them to contribute to a safely managed construction or civil engineering site.

This course is endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) as the standard training for all supervisors working on their sites.

Who is the SSSTS Training Course for?

• First line managers and Supervisors
• Individuals progressing towards a first line management or supervisory position

Learning Outcomes: SSSTS (Site Supervisor’s Safety Training Scheme)

• Understand the need for risk assessments
• Carry out risk assessments and produce method statements
• Have an understanding of how health and safety law is structured
• Be able to describe how the role of supervisor impacts on site safety and the role of the site manager
• Implement relevant control measures
• Demonstrate adequate proactive communication and why reactive monitoring is essential

What does the SSSTS training course cover?

• The Health and Safety at Work Act, relevant Regulations, Codes of Practice and Guidance Notes
• Tool box talks
• Risk assessments relating to construction site issues:-

1. Working at Height
2. Demolition
3. Noise
4. Occupational Health
5. Fire
6. Electricity
7. Confined Spaces

• Control of subcontractors
• Health issues
• Construction accidents

Duration

• 2 Days – Trainer Led Learning

Certification/Examinations

• Multiple-choice assessment paper
• Successful participants are awarded a CITB SSSTS certificate

This course is eligible for our Guaranteed Pass scheme

Further Development/Courses

• Successful participants will be awarded the CITB SSSTS certificate, valid for 5 years. This can be renewed with a the CITB 1 Day SSSTS Refresher Course
• The SSSTS course is also used, to provide foundation level learning before attending the 5 day Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS
