CITB SMSTS Refresher Courses

This refresher course for SMSTS provides any existing SMSTS certificate holders with an update on the latest legislation and best practice methods for meeting site safety regulations.

The SMSTS Refresher course enables individuals who have already successfully completed their Site Management Safety Training Scheme certification to renew their certificate.

It is a mandatory requirement to renew this SMSTS certificate every 5 years, either through a two-day SMSTS CITB Refresher Course or by attending another five-day Site Managers Safety Training Scheme.

Who is the SMSTS Refresher Course for?

If you are an existing Site Management Safety Training Scheme certificate holder then this is for you. Although your SMSTS certificate is for 5 years, legislation changes and you need to prove you are keeping upto date with it. The SMSTS refresher course provides this proof.

Developing your existing skills and knowledge, you will:

► Get briefed on the latest legislation, compliance and environmental governance.
► Understand and know how to implement new guidance and best practice.
► Be aware of and understand the current focus of HSE's attention.

What does the SMSTS Refresher course cover?

► Risk assessment and method statements
► CDM Regulations 2015
► Construction Health, Safety and Welfare (CDM part 2)
► Reporting of Accidents, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences
► Overview and changes to the current legislation affecting construction to include:
► Work at Height Regulations 2005
► Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002
► Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005
► Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005
► Fire on construction sites including Fire Safety Order 2005
► Construction waste and Site Waste Management Plans

How long does the SMSTS refresher course last?

The refresher course lasts 2 days of trainer led learning. It is a mandatory requirement of CITB that all delegates attend both days, in sequential order.

RISK SMSTS refresher course

Over the 2 days you have several practical assessments which are delivered through a mixture of exercises and reviewing real life case studies. On the last day you have a written exam (a multiple-choice assessment paper) which covers everything you have learnt during the previous day.

Successful participants will be awarded a CITB SMSTS certificate - this is valid for 5 years. If for any reason you don't pass - we pay for your retake and any training required.
