CITB SSSTS Course

The SSSTS course is part of the CITB Site Safety Plus Scheme and is the industry recognised essential training for individuals with site supervisors accountability, or businesses providing services to construction or civil engineering sites.

SSSTS, or Site Supervisor’s Safety Training Schemeto give it its full name, is a recognised qualification outlined in the Approved Code of Practice for the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM), (Demonstration of Competence, Appendix 4).

To equip first line managers/supervisor’s, or those seeking to become a manager/supervisor with an introductory level of health and safety, demonstrating how it is an essential function of effective supervision. It will provide a knowledge base and equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to enable them to contribute to a safely managed construction or civil engineering site.

This course is endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) as the standard training for all supervisors working on their sites.

Who is the SSSTS course for?

First line managers and Supervisors
Individuals progressing towards a first line management or supervisory position

Developing existing skills and knowledge, you will:-

Understand the need for risk assessments
Carry out risk assessments and produce method statements
Have an understanding of how health and safety law is structured
Be able to describe how the role of supervisor impacts on site safety and the role of the site manager
Implement relevant control measures
Demonstrate adequate proactive communication and why reactive monitoring is essential

How long does the SSSTS course last?
