Richard Hughes took the NEBOSH General Certificate course in London - taking the RISK Fast Track NEBOSH course format. This enables you to immerse yourself in the subject matter and take an exam while your knowledge on the subject matter is fresh and undiluted.

My name is Richard Hughes I am a Construction Manager / Supervisor on the railway and I have chose this RISK course to better myself really, I want to start pushing into project management and planning and thought that this would be a good base to do that off of. ..it’s best to just get this done cram it in and revise the hell out of myself over the weekend
I think it is about what I have learned this week, the chances of being able to learn two lots of that and then being examed on it is an absolute non-runner so it’s best to just get this done cram it in and revise the hell out of myself over the weekend and come back what would be Monday but is Tuesday, Bank Holiday, thank god for that extra day and hopefully crash the exam out and then pretty much forget all I have learned and start again, with the next phase that’s pretty much the thought of trying to learn two or three weeks of this intense information is too much, it has got to be done a bit at a time.

If and I hope I don’t, I do fail this on Tuesday you get the opportunity to come back and give it another go, free of charge.
London location is easy to get to
The location of this place is easy I live right out in Essex so it is a couple of train journeys but, lets have it like this there is three or four methods of getting to Kings Cross and once you are at Kings Cross you have got a two minute walk, it’s not tucked out you know where you have to start doing silly bus journeys and stuff like that, you can get here very easy.

It is good of Mike to give us his phone number at the start of the week he basically said any problems, any time within reason you can give him a bell and just catch up, I don’t think many people have used it yet, it’s probably a show of how good he is during the day, he is extremely good there is a lot of information in there and it is tedious it is very boring but he does put a good spin on it he does try to keep you interested in it. I am sure over the weekend his phone is probably going to be off the hook to be fair, with people panicking going Mike what’s going on, I know for a fact that he will answer it or ring you back, yes considering it is so daunting this course he is a breath of fresh air he is extremely good at his job, very good.

The group is made up of many different disciplines I think I am the only one there may be someone else from the railway sector, I’m not sure what everyone else does it does differ a lot. You get people stronger in different departments of it some people are glazing over bits I finding extremely easy and vice versa, so it is good you are bouncing off each other and there is a good mix of knowledge in there so you can bounce off of each other and nick ideas and that is what Mike encourages you don’t have to sit there solo learning it, if you don’t know something ask the person next to you cos the chances are they will.

I went with RISK just the pass rates, when I rang up and was doing a bit of enquiry, I spoke to a lady I don’t know who I explained to her what I wanted to get out of the course why I was doing it she told me different segments I needed to do this, that she had a real good chat with me and just made me feel like it’s the best part of two grand it’s a lot of money and I wanted to know I was putting it in the right place I didn’t want to come out with a qualification that I don’t need. She talked me through what I was best sitting what I was best doing timeframes and everything. I spoke to a couple of other companies but they just filled me with confidence, everything they have said they have done. It was a no brainer to be fair.
