Highway Works Manager achieves Distinction in NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety

Tom Vesty, of Leicestershire County Council, Highways & Transportation Department, explains how all 12 on the in-house NEBOSH course passed. Each learning how the law works in relation to health and safety in the workplace.

NEBOSH course very intense, very vigorous!

"My name’s Tom Vesty and I am the works manager at Leicestershire County Council in highways. I just recently completed my NEBOSH Construction course and I got 212 marks which gives me a distinction."

In-house NEBOSH course delivered a time to suit the group

We did the course in 2 parts, the first part was all about the health and safety law section then we did a bit more on the construction section. The NEBOSH training was done in-house on day release, couple of days here and a couple of days there with an exam at the end of each session and then following that we had to do a bit of course work.

12 Leicestershire County Council employees who all passed the in-house NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety exam – achieving five distinctions, five credits & two passes.

Good variety of people from different areas

A variety of different people from different areas of the council took part in this course and thankfully all 12 of us passed. It was a very intense course, very vigorous if I am honest, you had to take a lot of attention, bit of reading up in your own time and yeah, very informative and you learnt a variety of different new angles especially regarding the law and then obviously things that will help with your own day to day working on the construction site.
