Why a failed NEBOSH exam resulted in a 5 star Google rating!

Why a failed NEBOSH exam resulted in a 5 star Google rating!

When James Maclaughlin first took the NEBOSH General and Construction Certificate he failed because the volume of learning was overwhelming. But fortunately having taken his course with RISK, he was eligible for their NEBOSH Guaranteed Pass Scheme - which meant his next General and Construction Certificate training course was free.

James’s experience and detailed Google Review is well worth a read

It’s refreshing for us here at RISK to get such open and honest feedback - because it does two things; first it allows us to share his learnings with people booked on the course so they don’t make the common mistake of underestimating the study involved; secondly it helps us review things we may have got wrong and address them - like the cost of our NGN telephone numbers when called from a mobile.

James re-sat the NEBOSH Construction Certificate and passed

Once you understand the volume of material you need to digest, you will quickly appreciate the way RISK operate is to teach you the most common areas – which you commit to memory.  These are the areas you will be examined on. The 80% balance of the ‘resources and reference materials’ your RISK tutors teach you are the techniques they use to quickly reference the points of law you’ll need. If that wasn’t enough, RISK provided a helpline for all their students so they can have that expert knowledge at the end of a phone whenever they need a second opinion.

The Guaranteed Pass is standard if you book your NEBOSH course direct with RISK

There are lots of ways RISK could cut corners like some other NEBOSH training providers do, like not giving you your own personal reference book, personalised training, out of hours support and the unique RISK Guaranteed Pass Scheme - but read what James had to say, if you’re shopping around thinking all NEBOSH Courses are the same.

“Overall I am very pleased with my training and would not hesitate to recommend RISK to anyone, but would suggest you pay that bit extra for the guaranteed pass scheme unless you have done a lot of pre course studying.”

What James had to say about his NEBOSH tutors

“The quality of both tutors Mike and Dave was very high, as were the course materials, although they are both ex-military it was easy to distinguish which was RAF and which was Army! Some of the students found the Army a touch on the abrasive side, but don’t let this distract you, the content of the tutelage is still top class and it’s not personal, more of a no nonsense approach.”

On the website we’ve featured James’s full transcript - just for convenience, but it was the honesty which drew James’s review to our attention.

Purchased the guaranteed pass for Nebosh General and Construction certificate NGC1,NCC1, NCC2 course based at the Kings Cross location in late 2017.

The course was very well led but extremely intensive, basic requirements is to memorise the contents of the “Blue” book which is the approximate dimensions of an old fashioned telephone directory.

The exam is 11 questions for which you will need to hand write a page of A4 for each question correctly! However they positive mark your paper meaning incorrect answers are ignored, not deducted from your score.

I failed miserably at the 1st attempt it was simply too much information to learn and memorise at the same time for me.

2nd time around I took a conscious decision to memorise the answers only and ignored the learning aspect with resulted in a pass with credit.

Overall a very good training provider who are looking to guide you through the Nebosh labyrinth rather than just take your money so have awarded them 4 stars, would have been 5  but for a couple of minor gripes.

Gripe one, paid just under £2000 out of my own pocket but then incurred another £25 credit card charge, would have expected this to be included in the price, appreciate that some businesses can remit via BACS but most individuals will have to use a credit card so include it in the cost.

Gripe two one of the booking/contact numbers I was given was an 0845 number which my mobile operator charged me a whacking great 50p a minute for! 0330 or 0800 please.

Overall I am very pleased with my training and would not hesitate to recommend RISK to anyone, but would suggest you pay that bit extra for the guaranteed pass scheme unless you have done a lot of pre course studying.
