NEBOSH Study Tips

NEBOSH Study Tips

RISK are consistently recording higher than average NEBOSH Exam Pass Rates since the introduction of their NEBOSH Fast Track course – one reason for this is the NEBOSH Portal Learning Zone.

Helping NEBOSH delegates learn what to focus on to pass

The NEBOSH Portal Learning Zone is available to all NEBOSH delegates and includes smart study tactics, past exam analysis and example questions. This is especially useful for the National General Certificate which is divided into 3 units, the first two of which, NGC1 and GC2 are assessed by a written exam lasting 2 hours each.

Why is the National General Certificate so difficult?

The NEBOSH General Certificate is a foundation level qualification. It's level 3 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF) and level 6 on the Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework.

People who pass the course are qualified to manage health and safety. This means a grasp of the laws impacting on the different activities - so learning to pass the exam means being focused, learning smart and putting in the home study work as well as classroom time.

Smart NEBOSH study tactics

NEBOSH publish the most common errors students make when sitting an exam and RISK have developed tools, tactics and techniques for you to embed the good practice during your learning so you automatically avoid the bad practices when it comes to the exam. Everyone has a slightly different learning bias, so the information is delivered in multiple formats to ensure every delegate can embed the learning.

Past NEBOSH exam paper analysis

RISK has a matrix which helps delegates focus on the highest scoring aspects of the exam paper. It's design means you can concentrate on the critical areas and manage your time more effectively. Understanding how to interpret the questions and answer to the structure using the correct language is a critical part of the course.

Example questions and hand written answers

Exam papers are handwritten, so to pass your exams you must be able to write legibly, to clearly communicate your understanding of health and safety regulation and the key concepts. Plus demonstrate your ability to apply them to a workplace. This means having good writing and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to critically evaluate situations and use evidence to back your conclusions. RISK will weave this into your daily study so when it is time for the exam you are well practiced at producing well scripted answers.

Getting over the NEBOSH exam nerves

Many learners get nervous at the thought of exams, especially if they haven’t studied in a long time, but don’t let that put you off. You’ll get a purpose developed intensive revision programme and exam guidance throughout your course, to help you answer questions and take the stress out of your exam day.
