Changes to the NEBOSH Environmental Certificate online

Since it's launch on 1st March 2021, the NEBOSH Environmental Certificate online has changed - here's an overview of what's changed since the first OBE.

NEBOSH Environmental Certificate online

The new format Environmental Certificate syllabus is grouped into two modules, which are sold as one course and taught over 4 days:

EMC1 - Management of health and safety (Assessed by OBE & Closing Interview)
EMC2 - Risk assessment (Assessed by Practical Risk Assessment)

The content of the elements in each unit has been revised but the greatest change is that delegates do not need to 'learn as rote' Sections, Regulation numbers, etc. Instead, there is greater emphasis on environmental management, and to make the qualification more relevant to the real-life role of a managers and supervisors who have Environmental Management responsibilities or who are working within or towards the environmental management standard ISO 14001.

NEBOSH Environmental Certificate changes

As the new format courses are now well and truly bedded in, NEBOSH has tweaked their OBE to allow more time to test their portal and delegates access, this has increased from 48 hours to 8 days. NEBOSH gives Environmental Certificate delegates 24 hours to complete the Open Book Exam - which is how the FSC1 module is assessed.

NEBOSH Environmental Certificate exam frequency

The Open Book Exams are taken 4 times a year (every 4 months starting January) and at the same time around the world. Everyone sitting the NEBOSH Environmental Certificate - who sits a specific exam date, has 24 hours to complete the paper. In the UK, the exam start time is 11.00am, (this was originally 9.00am) and whatever country any other delegate is sitting the exam, they get access for the same 24 hour period.

The NEBOSH Environmental Certificate exam is the same, how we teach it isn't!

Understanding the new on-line format, RISK have adapted the training style, materials and study resources - which is now delivering better pass rates that the National Average. Where most training providers sell a 4 day block, RISK delivers the course over 4 weeks as a day release. This is because we understand people in management positions find it difficult to lose a week to a training course, which is why we originally introduced a day release option. However, studying The NEBOSH Environmental Certificate on day release courses improved the delegates pass rate. Consequently, our NEBOSH Environmental Certificate online courses regularly achieve 100% pass rate.

As a result, we noticed our NEBOSH Environmental Certificate Online pass rates improved – and outperform the National Average pass rates.
