NEBOSH have moved to Open Book Exams and this transition has seen them transform the old National General Certificate, Construction Certificate and Fire Certificate qualifications. This change impacts most greatly on those who are partway thorough a NEBOSH qualification; as typically this involved several modules and a five year window to successfully complete all the necessary components to achieve the desired NEBOSH Certificate.
NEBOSH Certificate courses and relevant qualifications changes explained
The changes in the format impact upon the course material, as well as the modular structure of the three NEBOSH Certificates. If you have completed the NG1 module and were going to progress with the NEBOSH Fire Certificate or Construction Certificate conversion, then please call us and we can book you on to an old format course. But these courses and exams are no longer available via the online booking as NEBOSH has launched their new certificate format with an Open Book Exam.
NEBOSH Certificate courses are designed to provide managers, supervisors, and employees with the skills to deal with a variety of health and safety issues. NEBOSH wanted to make their Certificate courses more learner-friendly by using language that is easier to understand and more reflective of todays workplace. By adapting the courses and changing the assessment from a classroom invigilated exam to the more accessible Open Book Exam format it provides immediate benefits to employers and learners alike.

NEBOSH General Certificate is the UK’s most popular & respected health & safety qualification. Relevant to every workplace, the NEBOSH National General Certificate is ideal for managers, supervisors and anybody with health and safety management responsibilities. It’s also perfect for those embarking on a health and safety career and gives you a stepping stone to success.
This is a two module qualification and requires two courses to be taken - NG1 and NG2
► The NG1 is a 5 day course with an open book exam at a predefined date.
► The NG2 is also a 5 day course. NG2 course content is designed to focus your thinking into applying the knowledge gained from the NG1 course into creating a practical Risk Assessment and Written Report. Delegates complete a practical Risk Assessment and Written Report which is submitted 10 days after your open book exam - this needs to be returned to RISK, who submit to NEBOSH.
► Only when you have passed both modules will you have the full NEBOSH General Certificate qualification.
The NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction UK is probably the UK’s most widely respected and in-demand health and safety qualification for the construction industry. Many employers in construction and other related industries, such as utilities, find that the National Construction Certificate can improve the safety culture of their organisation. It provides a sound understanding of the principles of risk management.
► This is a single module qualification NC1 covered over a 9 day course with an open book exam

There are lots of organisations offering training courses, surprisingly not all are training providers. Some are simply marketing companies who make a percentage on selling you a course - known in the training industry as brokers. You may think what does this matter if I get my course a few quid cheaper - but if you've ever flown on a budget airline you will understand the price you pay directly correlates with the delivery you receive.
RISK are an award winning training business and not a broker, so what does this mean?

► #2 - RISK offer the highest levels of personal learner support for the courses delivered. Our helpline can answer your questions first time, we guarantee the quality of the trainer, materials and venue. Including:
- telephone and zoom 1-2-1 support before the course starts
- 1-2-1 tutor support out of hours during the course; and...
- telephone support after your course is completed
► #3 - RISK provide the best value for money NEBOSH certificate courses. Depending on the course you're thinking of taking, there are numerous ways to reduce or hide the costs to make a sale. Often, you only find out what the true price is when you attend the first day. Only then you discover what isn't included that's extra, or realise the quality of the training provided and supporting resources are not as you'd imagined. RISK have no hidden costs, but call us and we'll tell you what questions to ask to make sure you don't get caught out if you're thinking of booking elsewhere.
