Unit EC1: The Management and Control of Environmental Hazards

EC1 is 4 days of trainer led learning in a virtual classroom environment, covering the following key elements:

  • Environmental Management Systems and Impact Assessments
  • Sources and use of Energy and Energy Efficiency
  • Controls of Pollution
  • Planning for and dealing with Environmental Emergencies

Assessment: There is a two‐hour written examination consisting of 1 ‘long answer’ question worth 20 marks and 10 ‘short answer’ questions, each worth 8 marks, for Unit EC1.


Unit EC2: Environmental Practical Application

The practical application is for delegates to demonstrate their ability to apply the knowledge and understanding gained from the study of elements of Unit EC1 in a practical environment. Delegates are required to carry out an environmental review of a workplace and complete a report to management regarding the review with recommendations.
