Most Instrumental Managing Director in Health & Safety Training 2024

Mike was selected based upon his activities in shaping the Health & Safety Training, and his work has been recognised by AI Global Media. RISK & Safety Management Services Ltd, founded by Mike in 1997, is recognised as one of the UK’s leading health and safety training providers. As a result they have received numerous awards focused on its training solutions, support materials and customer services.

This latest award focuses on Mike’s personal achievements in shaping the Health and Safety Training Environment, specifically around the work done on CITB, NEBOSH and IOSH courses. In 1998 he was awarded the MBE for his efforts assisting and advising ex-service personnel in securing suitable employment in the commercial world. This initiated Mikes relationship with CITB, as he introduced the courses to the MoD. Upon leaving the Armed Forces, Mike set-up RISK and started his new career in Health and Safety Training.

“It's a huge honour to be recognised for my work and to be awarded ‘Most Instrumental Managing Director in Health & Safety Training 2024.’ I’m delighted to receive this award but we’re a team at RISK, so I can’t claim all the glory.”

Mike Adams MBE, and now ‘Most Instrumental Managing Director in Health & Safety Training 2024.’

Transforming the course delivery through the COVID lockdowns

Mike's always been a leader and when the lockdowns impacted the world and shut down virtually everything, he had a plan. As an early pioneer of video led remote courses, Mike set to work on transforming the course formats and assessments for CITB’s flagship courses. Working directly with them on the SMSTS, SMSTS-R, SSSTS and SSSTS-R courses, he designed the format so they were able to be taught and accessed completely remotely. This enabled those working within the construction sector to upgrade their qualifications during a period when all face-to-face training was prohibited. The learnings from this experience and success was then shared with IOSH and NEBOSH. Both organisations worked with Mike to adapt their formats and create a wholly online remotely delivered course and exam structure.
