SSSTS the right qualification for prestigious role

SSSTS the right qualification for prestigious role

John Roberts, a seasoned mechanical engineer with a wealth of experience in the demanding oilfield operations of Asia, has recently joined LJR Engineering. His expertise is now being harnessed for one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects: Tideway.

The Importance of SSSTS

Tideway is a major infrastructure project in London, England, designed to reduce pollution in the River Thames. It involves the construction of a 25km tunnel, known as the "super sewer," to intercept and store sewage overflows, preventing them from entering the river. This will improve water quality and protect the environment.

As a commissioning engineer for some of the project's control systems, John is responsible for overseeing a team of engineers and ensuring the smooth implementation of these critical systems. This role demands a high level of technical knowledge, leadership skills and a commitment to safety.

To meet the stringent safety standards of the Tideway project, John was required to obtain the Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) qualification. This certification is essential for anyone who supervises or controls construction sites. It covers a wide range of safety topics, including risk assessment, accident prevention, and emergency procedures.

By completing the SSSTS course, John has demonstrated his commitment to safety and his ability to manage a team effectively. This qualification is not only a legal requirement but also a vital tool for ensuring a safe and productive work environment.

Choosing the Right Training Provider

John chose to undertake his SSSTS training with RISK, a leading provider of CITB-approved training courses. The two-day block classroom course, held at the prestigious UJ Club in London, provided John with a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.

“The London SSSTS venue was excellent, and the training provided by RISK was delivered in a highly professional manor. The tutor was very knowledgeable and had a grasp on both the subject matter and its real-world application. I’ve already recommended RISK to LJR Engineering’s’ training manager, and feel you’d be hard pushed to find a better SSSTS training provider in London.”
